What We Run Gas Lines For

The common jobs are a line to a new gas range in a kitchen that was previously electric, a dryer connection, a line out to a pool heater, fire pit or outdoor kitchen, and upsizing an existing line so it can supply a tankless water heater. Underground runs are their own kind of job — trenching, proper burial depth, the right pipe for below-grade use, and a pressure test before anything is backfilled. Propane systems follow the same principles with different sizing.

Sizing Is the Part People Get Wrong

A gas line has to deliver enough volume to every appliance running at once. An undersized line looks fine when only one appliance is on and starves everything when several are. This comes up most often with tankless water heaters, which need considerably more gas than the tank heater they replace — a lot of failed tankless conversions come down to somebody connecting to a line that was never going to carry it. We size the line for the actual load.

If You Smell Gas

Leave the house first, then call your gas utility or 911 from outside. Do not switch anything on or off on your way out, including lights. Once the utility has made the scene safe, we can come and deal with the line itself. This is not a call to make to a plumber first — get the emergency services in before anyone starts diagnosing pipework.

How We Work

Call or send the form and we will talk it through. Estimates are free. If we need to come out and diagnose on site, our service call is $145. We work Monday through Friday, 6:00am to 4:00pm. Doug Adair has run this company since 1978, and he still goes out on jobs himself. You get a straight assessment of what your home actually needs — not a list of extras someone was trained to sell you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a bigger gas line for a tankless water heater?

Very often, yes. Tankless units fire at a much higher rate than tank heaters and frequently need a larger supply line. We check this before quoting a tankless conversion rather than after.

Do you run underground gas lines?

Yes, including trenching and proper below-grade piping, pressure tested before backfill.

Can you do propane as well as natural gas?

Yes, we handle propane system piping as well.

What should I do if I think I have a gas leak?

Get everyone out of the house, then call the gas utility or 911 from outside. Do not operate light switches or appliances on the way out. Call us once the scene has been made safe.
